May 13, 2005 - Many of you might be wondering why Erica is no longer in the LPGA tournament. Well, Erica was disqualified from the Chick-fil-A- Charity Championship on May 12th. Erica finished her first round with a score of 2 under par 70, and was tied for 21st place.
At the completion of the round all players must report to the scorer’s tent to sign and turn in their scorecards. Erica signed her scorecard and placed in on the table for the rules officials to take and become an official card. Erica then turned around to thank her playing partners and the volunteers who assisted with keeping score through out the round. Erica returned back to the table to pick up her yardage book, and glove and proceeded to leave the scorers tent. She got about 15 yards when she noticed that her scorecard was in the handful of articles that she had picked up. Erica immediately returned to the scorer’s tent and returned the card to be told by the LPGA rules committee that she had violated a rule and was disqualified from the event.
Erica is very disappointed with the ruling by the LPGA, and would like to thank everyone for the all the Ask Erica’s and support she has been receiving from her fans. Erica looks to bounce back with a great week next week in New York at the Sybase Classic.
